Creating art has been a passion of mine since early childhood. My resources were limited to what I could afford to buy with my weekly allowance, mainly colored pencils. I find it curious now in later life that I have returned to this medium as one of my favorites. I am also equally passionate about watercolor and oil paint. Each medium imparts a different technique, but my style is basically consistent. I have always been partial to realism, with some paintings demanding detail and others a looser rendering. Since I find it difficult to paint on location, I often use my own photographs for reference. This is mainly for structure and not necessarily for color. I feel that color is something that should be observed directly and then interpreted to make to subject come alive. The development of my art throughout my life has been essentially self taught. I am constantly observing and learning from all that is around me to further my experience as a visual artist.
