Biography

Elaine Soto, Ph.D. is an artist and a clinical psychologist. A native New Yorker, she was an artist in residence with the Puerto Rican Workshop for fifteen years and with El Museo del Barrio for one year. She currently resides in Albuquerque, New Mexico where she was an artist in residence at the Harwood Art Center for a year. In 1994, she was in a group show on the Black Madonna at the College of New Rochelle in New York, and in the Magnifico Art Center and the Harwood Art Center in Albuquerque. She was also in shows at the Pikes Peak Art Center in Colorado Springs, at the California Institute of Integral Studies Exhibit on the Black Madonna, and at the Vasby Art Gallery in Sweden. Her studio and psychology practice are in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Soto is working on a book about the Black Madonna based on her research, travels and paintings on the subject.
