The following information was provided by the artist unless otherwise noted.
A native of Brooklyn, NY, Jill-Ann Cherofsky's portraits are in many collections. Her subjects include children, businessmen, and socialites. Cherofsky's passion in art began early in life and continues with each day. Art teachers and friends recognized her natural gift and encouraged her. She continues to evolve as an artist and finds deep pleasure in the creative process.
Cherofsky appreciates feedback and criticism. She feels that a fresh perspective is helpful. She describes her personal style as "right at the verge of realism, yet impressionist enough that you enjoy it as painting." She loves the sense of excitement that her work can evoke in another person.
Cherofsky experiments with different mediums, expanding her work in unexpected ways. Presently she favors graphite and pastel. Sensual colors, romance, and texture are primary in her works. Her choices of simple subject matter give an old world charm and are full of emotion. Her portraits and still lifes make you stop to appreciate the moment before it vanishes.
Cherofsky's works, especially the recently completed "Splendid," have inspired and touched the hearts of so many. She has exhibited in national juried art shows where she has won awards. Her work is exhibited in Linmar Gallery and the Alliance of Queens Artists, both in New York, and is in other collections across the United States.
Cherofsky divides her time between doing illustrations and portraits. She is delighted to discuss commissions. Her work can also be viewed at www.CherofskyART.com.
