New York born Hester Welish studied and earned her degree at Hunter College and taught in the public school system. She also studied at the Art Students League, the China Institute, and the National Academy of Design.
Welish has been a member of New York Artists Equity Association, American Society of Contemporary Artists (ASCA), Society of Women Artists, England, and Noho Gallery and the Organization of Independent Artists, NYC. Her solo exhibitions include the Heatherly Gallery, London, England, and the Noho Gallery, NYC. Among her selected group exhibitions are Albright-Knox Art Gallery, Buffalo, NY; the Society of Women Artists and the St. James Collection, London, England; and Blue Mountain Gallery, NYC. Her work has been reviewed in The Villager, Artspeak International, and the Provincetown, MA, News magazine.
