The National Association of Women Artists, Inc. (N.A.W.A.) is a not-for-profit, non-political, member-supported organization of women in the fine arts, founded in 1889, whose primary purpose is to encourage and promote the creative output of women artists. By seeking exhibition opportunities for its members in the visual arts, N.A.W.A. fosters awareness of the contributions of women artists to the ongoing history of American art.
N.A.W.A. sponsors the following: year round juried exhibitions for its members; traveling exhibitions hosted by art centers, museums, and university and corporate galleries in the United States (lectures, demonstrations, and videos accompany them when possible); international exhibitions in Europe, Asia, and South America since 1914; special exhibitions; and the annual members' non-juried exhibition in New York City which includes awards judged by prominent art professionals.
N.A.W.A. is listed in the following:
A Women's Yellow Book, a directory of professional organizations.
Business Women's Network, a directory of top 500 U.S. business and professional organizations.
